Common questions

When do I get charged?

Only when you miss your target for a period. If your goal is "Gym 3×/week" and you only check in twice, you're charged your stake for that week. Hit 3 or more and you pay nothing.

Can I cancel a goal?

Yes. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current period. The current period still counts — you can't game the system by cancelling right before a deadline.

What does a referee do?

A referee is someone you trust — a friend, coach, or partner — who you invite by email. They get simple links to verify or reject your check-ins. No account or login needed.

Is my card information safe?

Your card details are handled entirely by Stripe (PCI Level 1 certified). We never see, store, or process your card number. Same infrastructure as Amazon, Google, and Shopify.

What if my card is declined?

We retry up to 3 times over 3 days. If it keeps failing, your goal is paused and you're notified to update your payment method.

Where does the money go?

Failed pledges are charged to Pledgr. The financial sting is the product — your incentive is to never be charged. Most people never are.
